What is Skilled Nursing Home Care?

What does Medicare skilled nursing care mean when it comes to in-home health services? Medicare certified home health care is offered when an elderly patient requires specialized skilled therapy services or medical care that requires attention from a certified nurse or home health aide. In order to qualify, the senior must present the need for medical attention or physical therapy due to an illness or injury. This goes beyond simple personal care (such bathing, dressing, hygiene, etc.) Medicare certified skilled nurses are there to offer our patients with special medical needs more than just basic personal care assistance and companionship—our skilled therapy nurses are there to help our patients heal and cope with illness and injury when they are needed most.

Skilled Therapy Services in Your Own Denver Home

All the Comfort of Home offers skilled therapy services which include occupational, speech, and physical therapy. When someone is already experiencing discomfort, driving back and forth to appointments for speech, occupational, or physical therapy can be a literal pain. The benefits of in-home home health care and therapy services go far beyond simply not having to find transportation to a hospital or other skilled nursing facility. Our elder care patients also enjoy being spared the time spent in waiting rooms, risks of falling or hurting oneself while traveling to and from therapy, and most of all, eliminating the self-consciousness and embarrassment that can happen when going through painful and difficult therapy exercises in front of others.

As a general rule, Medicare will cover up to 100 days of skilled nursing home care depending on the patient’s circumstances and medical diagnoses.
